Our Team
Lamar Newburn, SIOR
As Founding Partner, Lamar leads all aspects of SETT. A commercial real estate veteran since 2005, he has successfully represented a diverse client-base in the acquisition, disposition, and leasing of more than $3 billion of capital and lease transactions to date.
Lamar earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Cornell University (Ithaca, NY) and Master of Business Administration from the James A. Graaskamp Center for Real Estate (Madison, WI).
A Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR) Designee, Lamar is also highly active in the community. He currently serves Board Member roles with the Wisconsin Real Estate Alumni Association (WREAA) and ReStart, Inc., is an Advisory Board Member of the Minnesota Commercial Association of Real Estate/Realtors (MNCAR), and is a past Council member for Bethlehem Lutheran Church Twin Cities.
He is a licensed private pilot and a volunteer musician for industry organizations such as the National Association for Industrial and Office Parks (NAIOP), CoreNet Global, MNCAR, Habitat for Humanity, and others.
Alex Livadas
Alex is a Partner at SETT focused primarily on the firm’s Mountain West activities. He has more than 18 years of experience in commercial real estate investments, development and asset management.
Before joining SETT, Alex served as Vice President of Dostart Development Company, LLC, one of the Silicon Valley’s premier commercial real estate developers, where he was engaged in the project management, asset management, and underwriting for the firm’s development and investment properties. Prior to his tenure at DDC, Alex worked at Tishman Speyer in direct investment roles in acquisitions, development and asset management. Earlier in his career, he worked at the Weitzman Group providing client advisory services including market research and analysis, market and financial feasibility studies, and investment advisory and counseling services.
Alex earned his Bachelor of Science in Hotel Administration degree from Cornell University (Ithaca, NY) and Master of Business Administration from the James A. Graaskamp Center for Real Estate (Madison, WI).
Alex is a licensed real estate broker in Colorado and California. He is also an active member of NAIOP and ULI.
What’s a SETT, you ask?
A SETT, by its literal definition, is the interconnected network of underground tunnels excavated by a badger. SETT’s can accommodate large groups of badgers, also called cetes. They are built in a variety of soil compositions, inside piles of timber or rocks, or even under manmade structures such as property foundations, concrete sidewalks, and paved roadways.
Our Founder and Managing Principal was born in the humble Northwoods of Wisconsin, “The Badger State”. After matriculating to the East Coast for his undergraduate education and collegiate athletic career, he spent the first several years of his commercial real estate career excelling in a high-volume investment sales shop located in Washington, DC. Since moving back to the Midwest in 2009 for graduate school, his SETT has continued to grow deep through years of service in investment sales, equity capital markets, acquisitions and dispositions, leasing and asset management roles.
Simply put, a SETT is the home of a Badger.
